Persistent slab: We had a handful of large noisy collapses while skinning up the NW ridge of Galena Pk, these started above 9,000' where the snowpack felt more developed and wintery than at lower elevations. These were failing on the layer of buried facets down around 30-40cm below a F hard slab. Felt some older windslabs while moving on ridgelines, but no cracking or collapsing. Would be concerning where it's overlying buried facets. Big take away right now is if you are not worried about dry docking your skis into bed rock, there is most likely the presence of buried facets, and triggering an avalanche is possible.
Avalanche
This avalanche was on a NE aspect at around 9500' above Mill Lake near Norton peak. Looked like it was around D2. Based on size of debris and location, I'm suspecting it failed on buried facets.
