Parked at 3,600’. 5” of newer snow on top of refrozen slush. Overcast skies, snowing lightly. Snow depth increased quickly above 4,000’. Crust was present below the new snow until about 4,600’. Everywhere we travel the new snow was low density and bonding well to the crust or older snow below. Hand shears did not produce any results, nor did test slopes. Above 5,000’ there was a small amount of wind effect present. A small wind lip on a NE slope broke apart after jumping on it 3 times and did not release a slab below it. Above 4,600’ there was 12” of new snow. Cloud cover ranged from obscured to broken, light to moderate snowfall, very light winds. Upper elevation riding quality was excellent.
