Observed the aftermath of a large avalanche to the NE of Purple Knob, north of Blacksmith Ridge. Slope was SSE facing. Likely happened during the storm on Feb 8th. The crown was first observed from the road on the morning of Friday Feb 9th and took a closer look today (Feb 11th.) Avalanche looks to be a sz 3-3.5, the crown in places is at least 2m with a propagation of at least 500m. Elevation is approx 2100m-2300m. The avalanche ran full path and a distance of approx 1.5km. Seems to have been accompanied by a powerful powder cloud due to the large number of freshly broken branches on trees well clear of the main debris path. Debris ran into thick trees both at the sides and end of the slide path.
