Quick report
Overcast skies all day. Snow was settling up slightly by afternoon, but far less here without direct sun and colder temps on snow surface. Other areas of Tetons faired far differently with a melt freeze crust developing by this evening. On Taylor, hand shears weren't pulling off in a cohesive slab. No propagation in any snowpits. The new to old snow interface (buried 2/3) was widespread up to 10k on S and E aspects. Recent snow varied from 40-70cm (16-28"). Signs of previous wind loading from southerly winds. Light transport today with W winds.
Snowpack
Dug a few pits. The recent snow had not set up into a slab yet (F hard). Sounds like this was not the case in other areas where clouds cleared.
8300' E aspect HS: 145cm ECTN on both a mid storm density break (graupel) and 2/3 crust interface. 1/4 layer buried 115cm
8700' SE aspect HS: 175cm ECTN on the same layers. 1/4 layer buried 125cm
9500' SSE aspect: ECTN on same layers. PST44/100 End on 1/4 layer buried 90cm (Thanks to the Yostmark Rec II avalanche course for the data, great info!)
