Scattered cloud cover was beginning to increase by 0900 and there was also slightly increasing northerly wind. The temperature was cool and below freezing during the morning; however, with the filtered and intense May sun there was water on the road and the snow surface was beginning to moisten on the east-facing slopes where I traveled.
