Quick report

Collapsing
isolated

First observation submission, I am no expert. Made it about 2 miles up College Glacier drainage before snow got too deep for the WT Skandic. A couple holes opened up in trail when crossing creek but lots of alternate routes to drive around on way back. Skinned up hill first big slope on the North side. Had isolated spots of snow collapse a couple times. Dug a pit on a 27 degree slope. 30" of fresh snow on top of hard crust layer 1-4" thick. New snow seemed consistent with no weak layers. It took significant stomping from above to get new snow to release from hard crust on the bottom. We continued up and skied down 27 to 32 degree slope without issue and no other signs of instability. Light winds and 0 degrees in valley and probably into teens on slopes. Free your heel and ski for real!
