Most of my observations about the day I added to my first submission. Here I will provide some details about my second pit. After leaving my first pit in search of more stable snow conditions I traversed the top of the ridge -- Eastward -- to a bowl that faced more NNE. Here I dug my extended col test. Elevation: 7000ft, Snow depth: 115cm, Found the same weak rain layer at 80cm. It was thinner and less sugary and more bonded. I noticed the snow below the rain layer was more consolidated. Unlike the last pit where the snow underneath was softer. The top 20 cm of snow was powdery and felt more protected. This bowl appeared to be less wind scoured than the first. I could not get the slab to collapse. ECT No Propagation. I did get the slab to release when I used my shovel to pry on it. I skied this bowl. about 300 feet down I skied through old avi debris. Most likely from the previous storm. Lots of small basketball sized snow blocks spread out over a 100 foot wide cone. I did not take any photos of this pit.
