At upper elevations, 25 cm of snow has fallen in the past two days. Winds appeared to be moderate during the first part of the storm, then stronger last night and today (Tuesday). Snow quality was quite good, even on solar aspects. I dug a pit down to 90 cm in the southeastfacing, wind loaded starting zone of the Presidental gully at 8,300 feet. HS around 300 cm - a little bit deeper than my probe. Results were ECTN5 at 10cm (overnight snow), ECTN18 at 35 cm (past two days snow), and ECTP25 at 85cm (on an ice crust - guessing the beginning of the President day weekend storm). The failure at 85cm was the most concerning as it was clean and energetic. I did a lot of ski cutting in new soft slabs in the top of the gully and was able to release one small pocket. Overall, the new snow was not very reactive.
