Quick report
Lots of wind! The snow was definitely moving around up high. Above Palmer, the surface tended to be dry snow on top of fresh hardpack with very occasional ice chunks mixed in. On Illumination saddle, the wind has sculpted the area into a giant rollover and was gusting what felt like 50-60mph at the time from the west. Needless to say, that specific area was quite a bit deeper than other terrain on the south side, and probing with my pole found it went around 3.5ft before hitting hard snow. The Reid seems totally filled in but also had obvious signs of high wind exposure everywhere. No avalanches observed while skiing out. The snow took pretty aggressive turns without issue and didn’t have the ‘spooky’ feeling often felt on wind slabs, but that doesn’t rule them out. Snow quality deteriorated around magic mile elevation at 1pm, and rollerballs were seen downhill of the climbers lot, but not above.
