To no one's surprise, there was active wind loading, rapid cornice development, wind features, hollow soft wind slabs, and gusts that turned the horizon gray from intense snow transport. I experienced whumpfing and sudden isolated snowpack collapse on a SW aspect slope near Herman saddle proper. Proper reason to back off. Enchanted forest/east gully did not have the same type of wind features or much of a wind slab, but instead a 2 inch crust under the newly deposited snow. No pit was dug because I wanted to eat chocolate instead.
