Quick report
Started from the pull-out in the highway at 12:30. 20°, calm, cloudy. At 1400 ft elevation probed snowpack - 50 cm deep with crust at 25 cm and 20 cm, top 20 cm is sugary pow with a little hoar frost. Followed an extremely questionable skin track up and did some terrible early season schwacking. Skinned up to 2300 ft elevation and did one excellent lap in the meadows. Another terrible schwack to get out. Back at 3:00, just in time for the snow to start flying, temp still about 20°. No formal snowpack tests, did not note any red flags. We could see MANY glide cracks across the way.
