Quick report

Cracking
widespread

Top 4 inches cracking on road travel, 20 inches new, snowing lighly, poor bond the old bed surface, evidence of 2 distinct snowfalls ove 3 days, was ongaurd for the obvious dangers of rapid loading, stability was poor on slopes with multiple convex triggers above 30 degrees.

Avalanche

10:30 am, northern aspect, propigated as we traveled up the road, lots of stored energy, slope angle 30 to 45 degrees, several convex knob in starting zone, 50 yds across ran an equal distance to the road, slid on old bed surface, lightly forested but close enough to the top of the ridge that it definitely had some windloading at the top of the crown which varied from 15 to 28 inches. Stuff was touchy due to rapid loads and we witnessed a similar slope release as we traveled on the road. Tons of stored kinetic energy on 40 plus degree slopes on the north faces in this area...stability increased slightly as the day progressed.
