Went for a lap on the town hill in Cooke City today. Most noticeable was fresh snow depth-easily 1ft or more in certain pockets. Winds were ripping out of the west, stripping a lot of slopes but also depositing lots of snow on those same aspects (we were on a south aspect with some contours bending SW and SE). There didn't seem to be any sort of pattern as to what slopes had a stout wind crust on them, soft wind slab, or hard wind slab–we would find all of the above within a 10ft stretch of walking. Also of note was noticeably more cracking underfoot today than yesterday. Isolated cracking only, but the storm/wind snow was definitely showing a little bit of cohesion, even right after falling. No shooting cracks or collapsing underfoot, everything was localized to the length of our skis. A bit variable skiing conditions with the presence of wind crust, soft slab, and hard slab all next to each other, but overall still great skiing conditions to be had outside of avalanche terrain.
