Quick report
Stable conditions at all elevations except elderberry headwall proper. Obvious meltfreeze crust below tree line which was great corn when we skied out at 1:30 pm. Changed to a few inches of soft wind loaded snow above firm base around 7200’ on north aspect. There were patches of firm wind board but mostly soft stuff that got deeper and deeper as we ascended. Upper ne facing roller field 9600-10800’ variable in drainages but soft and good on skiers right where protected by canyon wall. Headwall had small crowns and debris visible so we opted for a more chill line. We skied e facing side of the canyon from just at 12000’ on the ridge. Upper pitch felt like 4-5 inch wind slab that had softened and healed. Felt safe skiing. Snow was more sun and wind affected on more southerly aspects even up there. Roller balls were visible here and there, all elevations and aspects.
