Conducted Snow Pit analysis IVO 11S KC 702 454 TOD: 1430 Aspect: NE slope Slope Angle: ~20° Ambient Air Temp: Snow Surface Temp: Snowpack depth: 90cm Recent snow depth 31cm Following the short storm the past two days there was a new snow depth of approximately 31cm of unconsolidated snowpack hat has settled on top of 3 defined layers. The top layer in the area tested was about 1-2 cm thick and was easy to push through followed by another more dense but still generally unconsolidated snowpack. The second layer was about 2-3cm thick and was more dense than the top layer, followed by another section of faceted snowpack. The third and final layer was the thickest at about 5cm followed by the final section of snowpack that was the most faceted section. While the majority of the 3 snowpacks were facets there was evidence of sintering presumably due to the NE facing slope and little to no overhead coverage in that specific location, coupled with clear skies and a long sun exposure.
