Quick report

We were snowshoeing up the Mount Ripinsky main trail and at 1,568 ft. on a SE aspect. We made our observation on a 5 degree slope in an open area surrounded by trees. The observation was made at 1:42 and the temperature was -1C. There was freezing mist and the trees and snowpack were covered in a thick ice rime. We dug a pit to the ground and found 120 cm of snow. There was a hard ice layer about 5cm thick at the top of the snowpack. At the base of our pit there was a thick, weak layer of faceted snow.
