Observations from Rundle traverse. Cornices are fairly large and some have cracked and separated from the ridge. Lots of small wind slabs were encountered but no signs of instability. We avoided the largest most exposed slopes on Mount Rundle ascent (the central, highest Rundle peak) where we observed larger wind slabs. Instead we climbed mixed rock and snow to the climber's right of the main drainage.
