Quick report
Dug a few hasty pits during the day. Had my first column shear clean about 12" down into the pack while sawing the back to isolate the column. CT16 at about 6300' N NW facing slope, on second isolation of the column. Shear was clean at about 12" deep. (note, top 4-5" I could blow off, so didn't count that.) At 6700' did some old school hand shears, with the same results -a clean shear about a foot deep. At 5900' dug into a deep pocket on a steep test slope that broke when cutting out the back wall of column, at the 12" deep level and about 2' deep. All the testing aside, the snow skied extremely stable. No cracks, whoompfing...Cornices are minimal. I would be very wary of jumping into a large connected slope, like a bowl, especially around rock outcrops, or into tight chutes, especially with the new storm coming.
Avalanche
While I could tell there had been wind associated with the last storm, it must have ended with fairly calm winds as the surface didn't have a lot of drifting and such. There appeared to be some older crown lines (natural), which probably occurred near the beginning of the storm and were fairly well filled it.
