GTNP

Cruised around GTNP with binoculars to see how the mountains handled the consistent warm temperatures and lack of refreezes. I placed a collection of photos below.

The snowpack has a summer look to it, with dirty wet loose avalanches near cliffs and rock bands, and sun cupping in the lower elevations. There were some decent size runnels on the east face of Teewinot, and also the waterfall in Avalanche Canyon has opened up.

Most notable was the wet slab on Rockchuck Peak - approximately 10,000' SE. I was skiing Rockchuck on 4/20 and that zone had significantly wet loose avalanched the day before. However, today I observed a well-connected wet slide, pulling out with debris running to the apron at 9,000'. Hard to decipher depth from so far away, but it seems to be an easy D2.5 possible D3.
