Quick report

Snowpack exhibited a hard layer (P) at ~95 cm above ground that produced full propagation in ECT after moderate force , failing along an ice vein beneath softer overlying snow. No cracking, collapsing, or natural avalanche activity was observed during travel. The observation was made in a portion of Jawbone Canyon that commonly produces avalanche activity during large storms, suggesting this structure is worth monitoring where similar terrain and loading exist. ECTP after moderate force (5 wrist + 3 elbow) with fracture at ~95 cm above ground in a ~122 cm snowpack, propagating across the full column. No collapsing observed.
