Quick report

A skiff of wet refrozen snow on the road at 1800', 35F at the car, closer to 32F at 2800'. Calm, no wind, obscured sky, good views into the Entiat/Chiwawa Ridgeline and Mad River. Snowpack appears to increase above 4500' or so. Bare solars to 4000' up the Mad River. Upriver from Brief the green grass was replaced by 10-20cm of crunchy snow and temps hovering around freezing at the road. The old Entiat Ski Hill Tow Rope area provided good views up valley, and the upper Entiat looks as wintery as anywhere else in Chelan County right now. It's thin, but it's early...and if you can't use your Epic Pass at Stevens this year, you could always chainsaw your way up the North Fork to Saska, hang your shingle as a fur trapper all winter, and then make it down to Domke Lake for spring.
