We observed a generally shallow, yet stable snowpack at about 9,400 feet on a east aspect. Snow depth was approximately 70 cm with facet formation in the lower 40+ cm of the snowpack to the ground. Moderate density storm snow made up the upper 10-20cm with a melt freeze crust below the new snow. Weather was clear with moderate winds on the ridge out of the west, southwest. Our CT and ECT showed failures at the melt thaw crust as well as at the ground, with propagation at ECTP 23 and poor slip/sheer quality on the melt thaw crust. The facetsappar to be widespread and could be reactive in higher elevations wind loaded areas and after the next round of loading.
