Avalanche Activity

SC 14.04.23 Moderately bonded deposits on SW through NW to NE aspects above 900m. Avalanche hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: There will be some consolidation of existing deposits but localised moderately bonded windslab will persist, mainly on South-West through North-West to North-East above 900 metres. Steep wind sheltered locations such as gully tops and corrie rims will be most affected. Any new snow will have little effect on overall stability. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Observed Weather Influences: Heavy snow showers overnight at all levels, with further snow flurries during the day. By early afternoon the freezing level was just above the summits. The winds were moderate from the North-East.
