Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will become wet, thawing at all levels initially, but will refreeze in the afternoon and remain stable throughout. Later, isolated pockets of windslab will build in steep wind sheltered terrain, North-East to South-East aspects, above 750 metres and will generally be avoidable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Persistent rain at all levels overnight and through the morning will turn to wintry showers in the afternoon as the freezing level lowers to around 650 metres. The fresh South-West wind will gradually strengthen, becoming a strong to gale force Westerly through the day. Observed Weather Influences: A day of sunny intervals and isolated light showers, wintry above 750 metres. Fresh Westerly airflow. Freezing level steady around 850 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The existing broken snowpack remains well consolidated and stable throughout, firm, particularly at summit levels. The lightest dusting of fresh snow is lying above 750 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
