Snowpack Structure

In some localities 30 to 60 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 1500 m. New snow to above 700 m. The new snow and wind slabs remain in some cases prone to triggering. The fresh wind slabs are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility.

Tendency

In some localities light snowfall at intermediate altitudes. The weather conditions will facilitate a gradual change towards better conditions.

Avalanche Activity

Large quantities of fresh snow and the wind-drifted snow of the last two days can be released easily or naturally above the tree line. In some localities light snowfall at intermediate altitudes.

In all aspects medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations are to be found at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Backcountry touring calls for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and a certain restraint.
