Fresh and older wind slabs are to be assessed with care and prudence. The danger of moist and wet avalanches will increase quickly during the day.
The wind slabs of last week can be released even by a single winter sport participant. In gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and above the tree line slab avalanches are possible, even large ones in isolated cases. During the day: In steep rocky terrain and in starting zones where no previous releases have taken place medium-sized and large moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming.
As a consequence of snowfall and the occasionally storm force northwesterly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed during the last few days. This applies in particular in the regions exposed to the foehn wind above the tree line, as well as in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The foehn wind has transported a lot of snow. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Avalanche prone weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on steep northwest, north and east facing slopes. In some places various wind slab layers are lying on old snow containing large grains.
The weather will be mild. Midday and afternoon: Gradual increase in danger of dry and moist avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.
