Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: No significant change is expected. The snowpack will be firm, icy and generally stable all in locations Coverage is good on South-West through North-West to North-East aspects above 700 metres and is extensive on the White Mounth. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A dry and bright period is expected with the freezing level dropping to 450 metres overnight, then rising to 750 metres during the day. Winds will be Northerly light to moderate through Friday night, backing South during the daytime while steadily increasing to become fresh. Observed Weather Influences: A predominantly dry day with the freezing level around 900 metres. Moderate to light North-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally well consolidated and has good stability throughout. The snow surface is firm, softening slightly during the day below 800 metres and where exposed to direct sun. Despite the recent thaw, coverage remains good on South-West through North-West to North-East aspects above 700 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
