Avalanche Activity

The conditions are favourable for backcountry touring. There is a danger of falling on the hard crust.

The weather will be clear. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night was good. The backcountry touring conditions are mostly favourable. As the temperature drops hardly any more moist and wet avalanches are to be expected. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities 5 to 10 cm of snow fell yesterday above approximately 2000 m. The spring-like weather conditions gave rise to favourable bonding of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. The snowpack is hard and its surface has a melt-freeze crust. The surface of the snowpack will hardly soften at all. This applies in particular on shady slopes as well as at high altitude. In particular at intermediate and high altitudes there is still a very large amount of snow.
