Avalanche Summary

Avalanche conditions are dangerous. Strong winds on Saturday afternoon make things worse. These westerly winds will drift snow into thick slabs on numerous slopes, especially those directly below ridgetop. If you trigger an avalanche in drifted snow, it can step down to a much larger, potentially deadly avalanche. Another very large avalanche broke near the ground around Cameron Pass on Thursday, providing all the evidence we need to know that these dangerous avalanches are possible and increasing in frequency. This is true from the Wyoming border through Summit County.
