Avalanche Summary
A spring storm is bearing down on Colorado. Higher elevation areas are favored for snowfall, and conditions are generally safe elsewhere. Spring storms are difficult to predict, so if you find more than about 8 inches of new or freshly drifted snow, stick to lower-angle slopes. It may rain below 10,500 feet, so expect a fully saturated snowpack in lower-elevation areas that still hold snow. If you sink deeply in wet unconsolidated snow, you should avoid steep slopes. Most slopes will be safe from avalanches, but even a small slide in steep consequential terrain can have a bad outcome.
