Lo esencial

Warming temperatures and sunshine will rapidly soften snow surfaces and increase the avalanche hazard. Wet loose and wet slab avalanches are possible after significant warming occurs. Avalanche terrain should be avoided after snow surfaces soften.

Wet loose slides are possible after snow surfaces have softened and could dig down to deeper layers or the ground on steep slopes where the snow is wet, loose and unconsolidated.

Dangerous wet slab avalanches are possible in steep avalanche paths during the heat of the day. These slabs could be triggered by snow machines and are likely to fail on buried layers of faceted snow or the ground.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A moist and unstable westerly flow will continue to bring snow showers to the mountains overnight. These showers are anticipated to decrease in the early morning hours and diminish during the day as skies slowly clear. Temperatures will drop into the mid 20s in the mountains and to near 30 degrees in the valleys by morning. Daytime highs will rise into the mid 30s at the upper elevations and into the upper 40s in the valleys. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning and increase to MODERATE in the afternoon. Wet slides are possible on very steep slopes after significant warming has occurred.
