Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. An estimated sixteen inches of new snow has fallen on top of Togwotee Pass and east of the Continental Divide ending Monday night. Only a few inches of new snow appears to have accumulated west of the divide. The snowfall was accompanied by strong winds that created soft slabs to thirty inches in depth on steep, lee slopes. Starting these slides may require one or more people on a slope at the same time or multiple tracks. The possibility of triggering hard slab avalanches also exists on steep areas with northerly aspects that have old, weak snow layers.
