Lo esencial

Air temperatures were near freezing early this morning and are forecast to rise into the 30s and 40s. As the day warms the hazard will increase the potential for wet loose and wet slab activity to occur on very steep slopes and in extreme terrain. Yesterday a skier was caught and carried by a wet slough in the Son of Apocalypse couloir. Similar events are possible today. Stay off of and out from under steep terrain after snow surfaces soften.

Wet loose slides will become possible on sunlit aspects as air temperatures warm and snow surfaces soften. Small, natural sloughs are possible. These sloughs could knock a person over and carry them over a cliff or down very steep sustained slopes.

Warm temperatures and sunshine will increase the potential for wet slab avalanche activity. These slabs could be triggered or release naturally in cliff areas, extreme terrain and very steep snow covered slopes with depths to three feet.
