Strong west winds Friday created dense wind slabs up to a foot deep on leeward aspects. At the mid and upper elevations these surface slabs were human triggered on steep slopes yesterday. With warming temperatures these surface slabs will be easier to trigger. The potential for slides to step down to depths of three feet in cliff areas, near cornices and on the steep walls of cirques and basins remains. Evaluate changing conditions carefully to identify features of concern. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.

Occasional light snow is expected Sunday night and Monday. Temperatures in the mountains will cool slightly to the mid 20s by Monday morning and rise to the upper 20s during the day. Southwest winds will blow along the ridge crests at 30 miles per hour.The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the high and mid elevations. Moderate winds, light snow and available snow will continue to create easily triggered soft slabs to a foot in depth on steep, lee slopes at high and mid elevations. The possibility exits for slides to step down to three feet pulling out older slabs in the steepest slopes and cliff areas in the higher basins.
