Triggering an avalanche today is unlikely with a snowpack that is becoming increasingly stable. Continue taking general precautions when traveling in avalanche terrain to reduce your exposure to springtime mountain hazards.

Over the past 48 hours, the snowpack has been continuously settling and melting from warm temperatures and rainfall. This process has been happening at all elevations, but expect it to be the most pronounced below 5000 feet in elevation. Continued warm conditions and forecasted rain at all elevations will likely contribute to snowpack melting and settling over the next 48 hours.
It’s worth paying attention to common springtime mountain hazards when traveling in steep avalanche terrain. These include but are not limited to falling rock and ice, undermined snow, and loose-wet avalanches. Some of these hazards are predictable and some are not. Plan accordingly to mitigate the risk and reduce your exposure.
