Lo esencial

Avalanches will be unlikely on Monday.  Our mountain snowpack has built a solid base while the surface continues to melt and freeze.  With the "freeze" part being dominant, this has kept any wet problems at bay.   Continue to carry avalanche rescue gear and use safe travel practices.

Avalanche Discussion

We are starting to see the start of a nice corn cycle with freezing temperatures in the low 20's and highs near 40.  This weekend the softest snow to ride was in direct sun, later in the day.  I suspect similar for Monday, but softing up a little earlier and on more aspects.  It might be tough to find an avalanche on Monday, but if you're looking really hard for one,  beware of slopes that are so soft and wet that you are sinking to your boot tops.  The hazard that stood out the most to me today was rockfall.... a little baseball size rock skittering down a frozen slope can cause some damage.
