Avalanche Activity

GC2/1 Dry cold light snow cover generally stable isolated areas of windslab gullies+corrie rims fragile cornices Avalanche haz low.

Forecast Snow Stability: Dry, cold conditions will maintain a generally thin stable snow cover. Isolated areas of mainly avoidable windslab will exist in wind sheltered summit gullies and around corrie rims where some fragile cornices may exist. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mainly dry and cold conditions will affect the area with widespread freezing possible. Winds will be fresh generally North-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: Colder conditions with light cover of new snow affected slopes above 300 metres overnight. Today has been mainly dry with fresh Northerly winds. The freezing level is around 450 metres. ObservedSnowStability: New snow is lying above 300 metres, the snow cover is generally thin on most slopes. Some overnight drifting has affected East and South-Easterly aspects giving localised areas of windslab on steeper slopes, areas most affected are corrie rims and wind sheltered gully tops. These areas are generally avoidable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
