Forecast Snow Stability: There will be a dusting of fresh snow above 600 metres. Isolated pockets of softer snow will persist in very steep locations on East to South aspects above 900 metres. The old snow on North to East aspects will become firm and icy. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Becoming milder overnight with the freezing level lifting to around 1200 metres before dropping down to 600 metres during the day. Precipitation, initially falling as rain overnight, turning to light snowfall as temperatures drop. Strong winds throughout the day, North-North-West becoming Northerly early morning. Observed Weather Influences: A cold start to the day with the freezing level slowly lifting. By early afternoon it was 0 degrees at 920 metres. Dry throughout. The Westerly winds were very strong. ObservedSnowStability: The majority of the snow is firm and well bonded. Isolated deeper pockets of new snow are to be found in steep wind sheltered features on East to Southerly aspects above 900 metres. Gully tops and corrie rims are particularly affected, cornices are starting to develop. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
