Lo esencial

Up to seven inches of dense new snow with over one half inch of moisture has accumulated in the past 24 hours. Temperatures have increased in the past 24 hours and will continue to rise. At the mid and upper elevations this new snow has fallen upon colder, old snow and soft slabs up to two feet in depth. Humans who venture onto steep slopes are likely to trigger loose snow sluffs and could trigger the soft slabs that lie beneath the new snow. If the sun appears it will spontaneously trigger shallow loose snow sluffs on very steep slopes and in cliff areas. At the lower elevations shallow loose snow sluffs are possible on very steep slopes and road cuts.

Avalanche Discussion

Skies are expected to be mostly clear above areas of morning valley fog and some mid and low level clouds. Temperatures will rise into the 20s. Winds will be light from the west to southwest. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Soft slabs up to two feet in depth exist and could be triggered by the weight of a single person. The potential to trigger one of these slabs will increase as the day warms.
