Lo esencial

During the next several days and weeks we will be making improvements and testing our new format. Please be advised there could be glitches that could post misinformation. Your patience is requested. These improvements were funded by grants provided by 1% for the Tetons, the US Forest Service, the Farmers Market on the Town Square, our sponsors and community donations. The snow that fell in October has melted at the lower elevations and on most sunlit mid elevation slopes. At the upper elevations up to 14 inches of old snow persists on all but very steep slopes that face due south. This old snow has been subjected to repeated melt-freeze cycles. Surface hoar growth has occurred on the surface of this hard old snow that will soften as the day warms.

The old snow is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely. It would be wise to avoid cliff areas and very steep snow covered slopes after snow surfaces have softened. Today we are testing our new format and using this aspect/elevation diagram to delineate terrain where snow that accumulated in October persists.
