Lo esencial

Surface slabs up to three feet in depth lie upon older denser slabs and slick crusts and weak layers of facted snow. These slabs continue to be triggered to depths of four feet by skiers and riders on steep wind loaded aspects. Human triggered slab avalanches have occured on Mount Taylor, Mt. Leidy, in Mosquito Creek drainage, in the Snake River Range and on the backside of Targhee in the past several days. Similar events are possible today. Good decission making skills and self rescue capabilities are essential for safe travel in steep avalanche prone terrain today.
