Lo esencial

Buried layers of faceted snow and crust that formed in January remain a concern. The potential for skiers and riders to trigger dense slab avalanches on these layers will rise as the day warms.

Dense surface slabs up to two feet in depth could be triggered by skiers or riders in steep terrain. The sensitivity of these slabs to human triggers will increase as the day warms.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Clearing skies are expected overnight with areas of patchy valley fog and low clouds in the morning. Skies will be mostly sunny with a few high clouds on Wednesday. Temperatures are forecast to drop into the mid-teens by daybreak and rise into the 30s during the day. Light winds will veer to the north and then back towards the west. Some potential may persist for humans to triggered dense slab avalanches up to two feet in depth in isolated areas at the mid and upper elevations. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE.
