Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard remains MODERATE above an elevation of 9,000 feet and LOW below that elevation. At the higher elevations some potential may remain for humans to trigger deep hard slab avalanches in isolated avalanche paths. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 9,000 feet.

Weak snow persists near the base of the snowpack. In isolated areas, dangerous hard slabs with depths to 40 inches could be human triggered on this layer. This basal weakness is limited in distribution and is most likely to be found along the east slope of the Wyoming Range in upper elevation in avalanche paths that face north to southeast.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies will be overcast with periods of light snowfall and convective snow showers. New snow accumulations of an inch or two are possible at the higher elevations overnight. Several additional inches of accumulation are possible at the higher elevations during the day. Winds will be light at 10 to 15 miles per hour from the west-southwest. Temperatures will be mostly in the 20s in the mountains and in the 20s and 30s in the valleys. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the Teton area where shallow isolated pockets of dense wind slab could be human triggered in very steep terrain at the upper elevations. A MODERATE hazard is anticipated in the Togwotee Pass and Greys River areas where some potential may remain for humans to trigger deep hard slab avalanches some in active upper elevation slide paths.
