Wind slabs and wet snow represent the main danger. Afternoon: As a consequence of the increasingly strong westerly wind the natural avalanche activity will quickly increase.

In the early morning the weather will be mild. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise in the late morning to gradual moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Afternoon: As a consequence of sharply falling temperatures and the moderate to strong westerly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form during the next few days. In particular intermediate altitudes and steep sunny slopes: The snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a crust that is strong in many cases. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Wind slabs are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack.

The weather will be cold. In some localities increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the strong to storm force northwesterly wind. By Friday further wind slabs will form in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain as well as at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. Along the border with France and along the border with Switzerland the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent and the danger is greater.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses, in particular medium-sized ones, caution is to be exercised on steep grassy slopes at low and intermediate altitudes, as well as at the base of rock walls. Afternoon: Some snow will fall in particular along the border with France and along the border with Switzerland. As a consequence of sharply falling temperatures, snowfall and the moderate to strong westerly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form. In gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain slab avalanches are possible, even quite large ones. Avalanches can be released, even by a single winter sport participant or triggered naturally. This applies in particular on steep shady slopes at intermediate and high altitudes.
