The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.
Snowpack Structure
The avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example and on very steep shady slopes. Wind slabs can be released, mostly by large loads and reach large size in isolated cases.
