Avalanche Activity

Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall.

The fresh snow as well as the large wind slabs that are forming above all adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls can be released very easily in all aspects above approximately 1800 m. As a consequence of the snowfall, the likelihood of ground avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on steep southeast and southwest facing slopes at intermediate altitudes. The soft wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence above approximately 2000 m. In all aspects and on wind-loaded slopes numerous large and, in isolated cases, very large avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

These conditions will cause a rise in the danger of dry and moist avalanches in all aspects.
