TO for 16.2 Unstable windslab on West through North to South-East aspects above 700m in steep wind sheltered areas. Moderate Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Instabilities will persist within existing unstable windslab on North through East to South-East aspects above 700 metres. Terrain most affected will be crag aprons, corrie rims and gully tops. Isolated pockets of fresh unstable windslab will build above 700 metres on West to North aspects, in similar wind sheltered locations. Wind exposed slopes will be mostly scoured. The older snowpack will be stable throughout. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight snow, becoming showery, then more persistant towards the end of the forecasting period. This will fall as snow generally above 500 metres. The freezing level will rise steadily to 750 metres through the day. Winds will be variable, light to moderate, primarily Southerly during the day. Observed Weather Influences: A generally bright day with some prolonged intense snow showers, becoming less frequent during the afternoon. The freezing level dropped steadily to around 500 metres. Strong Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: Localised unstable windslab is building above 700 metres on North through East to South-East aspects. Areas most affected are wind sheltered locations such as crag aprons, corrie rims and gully tops. Wind exposed terrain is generally scoured. The older snowpack is stable throughout. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
