Lo esencial

The weather forecast on Monday is calling for a mix of snow and rain throughout most of the ski terrain.  Minimal snow and rain accumulations mean that avalanches will be unlikely throughout most of the region.  Wet Loose avalanches will be possible on any slopes that receive more rain than snow (slopes that are located below 6,400 ft or so).

Wet Loose avalanches will be possible on Monday at lower elevations on slopes that receive primarily rain.  Rain adds water to the snow pack and also melts snow, thereby increasing the amount of liquid water.  As the ratio of liquid water to ice increases the snow can become unstable and Wet Loose avalanches can be the result.

Avalanche Discussion

The weather forecast for Monday calls for showery weather with fluctuating snow levels.  It looks like it will shape up to be a goldilocks day for avalanche hazard: some snow, but not so much; maybe a little rain, but only sustained at the lowest elevations.  As a result, significant avalanche hazard is unlikely.  The one exception is the lowest elevation terrain below snow levels where rain could cause Wet Loose avalanches.
