Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will rapidly accumulate in very wind sheltered locations on West through North to East aspects above 800 metres. Gullies, corrie rims and headwalls will be most affected. Fragile cornices will also form above these aspects. Moderately bonded deposits will also be found in lee locations at lower levels. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Significant snowfall above 500 metres, expected to start in the early hours and continuing throughout the day. Winds will vary in direction from the Southerly quadrants, gusts are expected to be in excess of 100 mph. Observed Weather Influences: There was a dusting of snow overnight above 600 metres, otherwise it was a predominantly dry day. Fresh winds from the South. ObservedSnowStability: There was a shallow layer of new snow above 600 metres with hard icy old patches, mainly on South-west to South-East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
