Avalanche Activity

Fresh and older wind slabs in the high Alpine regions.

The wind slabs are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at high altitudes. These can in isolated cases be released by small loads. Additionally avalanches can also be triggered in the old snowpack and reach quite a large size in the regions with a lot of snow. There is a danger of falling on the icy crust. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of dry and wet avalanches being released will increase a little.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities light precipitation. In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls wind slabs formed. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust. The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to moistening of the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes.
